Volunteer at the Zoo

Do you have a passion for animals?

Alexandra Park Zoo’s Volunteer Program has a number of dedicated volunteers ranging from high school students to retirees. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about animals, contribute to our conservation programs and connect visitors with nature.

What do volunteers do?

  • Welcome visitors to the zoo
  • Prepare food for the animals
  • Prepare and provide enrichment
  • Learn about and undertake animal care

You can expect to learn a range of tasks while helping to care for the zoo animals. You could be cleaning enclosures, chopping food, raking leaves or assisting with animal health plans. No experience is required as long as you are enthusiastic and willing!

How can I apply to be a volunteer?

Read through the Volunteer Information Sheet to gain a full understanding of what is required to be a zoo volunteer. If you are interested in applying follow the instructions in the information sheet. We look forward to hearing from you!
